The maqbara or Almohad graveyard of Alarcos occupies a small area next to the castle. Triangular-shaped, its interior is densely populated with southeast-northwest-oriented tombs.
41 documented burials, with great typological diversity, stand out due to the great state of preservation of their covering, something quite uncommon in this kind of graveyards.
These digital illustrations are not just an artistic creation since they are based upon a virtual hypothesis where all the available sources are included: archaeological excavation results, written sources, ethnographical and historical analogies, together with rigorous 3D documentation throughout photogrammetry.
This project is funded by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha. Scientific supervision was carried out by Dr Antonio de Juan (UCLM) and Diego Lucendo (Baraka Arqueólogos).
